Calculators
The eligibility and purchasing power calculators run entirely in your browser. Incomes, savings and household details you type are never sent to us or stored anywhere.
Email alerts
If you sign up for alerts we store your email address, the counties and scheme types you chose, an optional rent ceiling, the time you signed up and confirmed, and the time of the last email we sent you. Legal basis: your consent. You give it by paying for alerts. We send no alerts to an address until its payment has gone through. If you joined the free alert before 21 September 2026, you gave it by clicking the confirmation link we emailed you then. We use this data only to send the alerts described on the alerts page. We do not sell, rent or share it with anyone for marketing.
Emails are sent through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES, EU region, Ireland). Every email has an unsubscribe link; using it stops alerts immediately. We delete the address 30 days after you unsubscribe, or, if you had paid for alerts and could still switch them back on, 30 days after that paid period ends. A refund ends the alerts the same way. You can also email us to be removed sooner or to see what we hold.
Payments
If you buy paid alerts, the payment is handled by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd (Dublin). Stripe receives your card details and email address; we never see your card number. We store the Stripe payment reference, the amount, the date, and the date your paid alerts end, for as long as required for tax records (six years). Legal basis: performance of a contract and legal obligation.
Hosting and analytics
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes visitor IP addresses to deliver pages and to block abuse. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across sites. Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies are set only if you agree in the cookie window: they count which pages get used and whether our ads lead to sign-ups. We never allow ad personalisation for our own ads. .
Advertising
Some pages show ads served by Google AdSense: the guides, the county pages and the pages of schemes that have closed. There are no ads on the home page, on open or upcoming schemes, on the calculators, or on the alert, account and payment pages. We do not choose the ads and we are not paid for clicks on scheme links or provider links.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland these cookies are only used if you agree in the consent window; if you decline, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for frequency capping, fraud prevention and counting. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or of some third-party vendors’ cookies at www.aboutads.info. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
The ads never see what you type into the calculators: those figures stay in your browser. Your alert email address is never shared with Google or any advertiser.
Our own ads on Google
We also advertise the site itself on Google. Until you choose, or if you click No thanks, the Google tag runs in consent-denied mode: it stores nothing on your device and sets no cookies. It sends Google an anonymous signal that an ad click led to a visit or an alert sign-up, so we can tell whether the advertising pays for itself. If you came from a Google ad and sign up, we keep the ad click ID from the link (gclid, gbraid or wbraid) with your alert for 90 days to measure the ad, then delete it. During that time it is passed to Stripe and back, only to tell Google Ads that a payment came from an ad. The call to Google carries your IP address and browser type; see Google’s privacy policy.
Usage analytics
We use PostHog (EU servers) to see how the site is used: which buttons get clicked, how far pages are scrolled, where something breaks, and replays of visits with every typed character hidden. Until you click OK in the cookie banner this runs without storing anything on your device, so two visits are not linked together. After OK, a first-party cookie links your visits for up to a year.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can access, correct, export or delete your data and withdraw consent at any time by emailing us. You can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
